I still enjoyed a good DVD box set, but mostly spent every waking minute outside of class and the library working on Fresh Media between 2009-2012.

We started out as weekly club promoters, and quickly gained steam throwing larger events and working with local brands to integrate our thriving social audience with their brick and mortar business in the Tri-Cities area. At our peak we were managing 5 weekly residencies across 3 cities, had 5 or so rostered acts we were managing from hip hop bands to dubstep producers, and booking shows with some of the biggest acts in the world.

Notable bookings: Avicii, Zeds Dead, Above & Beyond, The Weeknd, Alesso, Ingrosso, Drop The Lime, Nero, MSTRKRFT.

Notable sponsors: Budweiser, Acqua (Aveda Salons), Harveys, Swiss Chalet, The University of Guelph.

As Marketing Director, I was responsible for directing all creative materials, managing our freelance designers, ideating and identifying bookings and opportunities, and working with our sponsors on activating their brands within our spaces and community.

I gained some hard-learned hands-on experience doing everything from booking shows (including some close visa calls), filling complex riders, navigating entertainment industry politics, staffing promotional teams, managing digital properties, online ticketing, building a student brand, scaling that to something that feels anything like a student brand, and having the time of my life doing so.

All with full course loads, a great team of inspiring like-minded students, at the best university in the world - Guelph.
